Soho Tango

Quite a humble little event every Thursday but one that is very endearing - Soho Tango is the new kid on the block in the Buenos Aires tango world, but one to recommend. Easy-going, unpretentious, relaxed, friendly and a small but great dance floor. Maria and Eugenia hold classes from 2100 after which the milonga starts. In the photo you see Emilio in True Italian style gripping the girl and refusing to let her go!

Soho Tango is the best...Mario is just dreamy, even if he is known as 'the fat one'. go and dance with him, learn from him and Eugenia, they are the best teachers in BA in my opinion - unassuming and just great.

Me thinks your lust after Mario´s bulge is getting the better of your judgement, they concentrate too much on steps and not on the concept or feeling or posture or style, although saying that they are very good!

i wasn't even thinking of his bulge! they concentrate completely on the feeling, posture and style...what are you on about?!!!

Mario is absolutely a genious of dance. Have you ever taken a private lesson with him? The best embrace, musicality, feeling... I challenge you to find one woman who doesn't love to dance with him. As for his teaching, it is phenomenal. The group class does show steps, but he throws in a million gems as to the how, the why, the when... and he is so funny! And Eugenia is a wonderful dancer and teacher as well. I agree with the person above, Mario's dancing is 'dreamy'. As for his plexus/tummy, makes for a great connection! I LOVE them!

Ah...Mario Bournissen can Tango... but you should see/feel him Milonga! Zowie! His reputation is best of the best. FYI-also 5th in the world for Salon Tango in the Mundial del Tango in 2006. He is all heart and no ego... flying under the radar, found by word of mouth. He does it because he loves it. And Thursday Soho Tango is a fun milonga with no pretenses. Que vivan Mario y Eugenia!

I'm glad to see some nice things about Mario and Eugenia. I love them too. And they give wonderful private classes.

Mario/Eugenia are really hidden gems. He really is a genius at what he does, and an incredible diagnostician. I've made 3 trips to BsAs in the past 2 years, as there's nobody like them. He gave me solo exercises for the purpose of improvising. No pretense with either of them. I feel really lucky to have studied with them.

Some years later, they are still going strong. They are wonderful people and great teachers and dancers. In my opinion one of the best teachers in Buenos Aires, working always by focusing on the positives. After taking years of tango classes they are one of my favourite teachers ever!
